LFPG at Labour Party Conference 2023

We have an exciting line up of events at Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this year - including on conflict resolution, the Indo-Pacific, pandemic preparedness and the future of aid.

 

We're delighted to be partnering with BRAC, BOND, Coalition for Global Prosperity, LCID, HALO Trust, SME4Labour and Scientists for Labour over the weekend.

Report Launch: China's Place in a Progressive British FP

PAST EVENT - Mon 22nd November 2021, 7:00pm

Following 8-months of in-depth roundtables with experts on China and the UK-China relationship, LFPG are pleased to launch the resulting report: China's place in a progressive British foreign policy. Speakers included report editor Phil Entwistle and Shadow Asia Minister Stephen Kinnock MP.

Stronger Together Britain in the World

PAST EVENT - Mon 27th September 2021, 9:00am

LFPG co-hosted Anneliese Dodds MP's Stronger Together Britain in the World event at Labour Party Conference. Speakers included: Preet Gill MP, Emily Thornberry MP, LFPG co-chairs Jessica Toale and Peymana Assad, LCID vice chair David Taylor and ITUC's Mariela Kohon.

Localism without Borders 

PAST EVENT - Thurs 3rd June 2021, 5:00pm

Joint LFPG and Politics without Borders event exploring the role cities, regions and local governments develop internationalism and foster cooperation with Europe post-Brexit. Speakers include Leader of Cardiff City Council Huw Thomas, Massachusetts 7th District representative Jack Lewis, Leader of the Council in Landrat Mattias Groote and Professor Sheila Foster from Georgetown University.

Understanding the Integrated Review 

PAST  EVENT - Tues 23rd March 2021, 5:00pm

Joint LFPG, Labour Friends of the Forces and Labour Campaign for International Development event exploring the government's Intergrated Review. Speakers included: former NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and Commons International Development Select Committee Chair Sarah Champion MP.

How can the UK promote peace and security at the UN? 

PAST  EVENT - Mon 22nd March 2021, 2:00pm

As part of Lord Collins of Highbury’s ongoing review of the UK’s role at the UN, LFPG hosted a panel discussion and Q&A with David Miliband, Dr Renata Dwan, Hannah Bond and Dr Orzala Nemat to feed in expertise from across the Party and beyond. The event will be focused on how the UK can better promote peace and security at the UN and will focus on three themes – the future of the Security Council, the role of the General Assembly and Secretariat in peace and security, and Women, Peace, and Security.
